Are you a passionate and experienced Chef looking to take your culinary career to the next level? Join our dynamic team at The Melissa Café, a premier dining destination in Victoria known for delivering exceptional dining experiences. We are currently seeking two full-time Chefs to lead and inspire our kitchen operations.

Position Overview

The ideal candidates will bring a combination of strong leadership, creativity, and culinary excellence. You’ll be responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation, managing a team of kitchen staff, and maintaining compliance with health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities
• Create and modify menus to meet quality and seasonal standards
• Estimate food and labor costs, monitor inventory, and manage ordering
• Supervise and mentor kitchen staff, delegating tasks efficiently
• Recruit and train kitchen personnel
• Ensure compliance with OH&S, sanitation, and food safety regulations
• Handle customer feedback and resolve kitchen-related issues
• Maintain kitchen equipment and coordinate repairs or purchases
• Perform administrative duties related to kitchen operations
• Provide ongoing training on cooking techniques and presentation
• Contribute to a positive and collaborative kitchen environment
• Monitor time management during prep and service to ensure smooth operations

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Chef in a professional kitchen
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems efficiently
• Up-to-date knowledge of culinary trends and kitchen best practices
• Proficiency in computer applications (MS Office, POS, kitchen management systems)
• Health and safety certifications (or willingness to obtain)
• Degree or diploma in Culinary Arts, Food Service Management, or related field
